Yeast Mixtures for Postharvest Biocontrol of Diverse Fungal Rots on Citrus limon var Eureka

چکیده

Mexico is among the most important citrus fruit producers in world. However, during storage, several problems related to fungi can arise. The common fungal postharvest diseases detected on Citrus limon var Eureka (Italian lime) produced Tamaulipas state are green/blue mold (Penicillium spp.), fusarium rot (F. oxysporum, F. solani, proliferatum, others), and anthracnose (Colletotrichum spp.). In this work, we selected yeasts, occurring as natural epiphytic mycoflora of lemons or from fermented traditional products, be tested part a formulation for protecting stored against diseases. best-performing labeled LCBG-03 (Meyerozyma guilliermondii), LCBG-30 (Pseudozyma sp.), LCBG-49 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), were test their compatibility biocontrol performance strains Penicillium digitatum (AL-38), Fusarium sp. (AL-21), Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (AL-13), Epicoccum sorghinum (H3A). Based vitro regarding percentage radial growth inhibition, both applied individually two yeasts mixed at equal cellular concentrations, best combinations (containing M. guilliermondii formulated with either Pseudozyma S. cerevisiae) efficacies higher than 95% rate inhibition lemon fruits. This work contributes search compatible yeast aim diminish losses fruits using protection.

Biocontrol of Citrus green mould and postharvest quality parameters

The potential for using Pichia guilliermondii BCC 5389 or Bacillus subtilis ABS-S14 by themselves or in combination for the control Penicillium digitatum in citrus, and their effects on postharvest quality of fruit was investigated. The percentage of disease with the combined antagonists was completely inhibited. Rapid colonization of P. guilliermondii was observed in the wounds during the firs...

Genetic diversity and biocontrol activity of Aureobasidium pullulans isolates against postharvest rots

Aureobasidium pullulans, a cosmopolitan yeast-like fungus, colonises leaf surfaces and is a potential biocontrol agent for plant pathogens. Forty-one isolates of the fungus from the surface of several fruits and vegetables cultivated in Southern Italy were compared by molecular analysis and biocontrol activity. Characterisation of the isolates by using arbitrarily primed PCR (ap-PCR) confirmed ...

Influence of food additives on the control of postharvest rots of apple and peach and efficacy of the yeast-based biocontrol product Aspire

The effects of calcium propionate, sodium bicarbonate, and sodium ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid (EDTA) on postharvest pathogens of apple and peach, and on improving the efficacy of the biocontrol product Aspire were evaluated. All three materials had a distinct inhibitory effect on the radial growth of Botrytis cinerea and Penicillium expansum in vitro. The inhibitory effect increased with t...

Micropropagation of mature tree of Citrus limon

A protocol for in vitro cloning of mature plants of Citrus limon using nodal shoot segments has been developed. Three to four shoots were induced per axillary meristems on MS medium amended with 9 μM BAP. Repeated transfer of the initial explants for up to six passages on MS medium [having 50% of the original concentrations of NH4NO3 and KNO3, and supplement of 250 mg L (NH4)2SO4] with 0.22 μM ...

Native Killer Yeasts as Biocontrol Agents of Postharvest Fungal Diseases in Lemons

Economic losses caused by postharvest diseases represent one of the main problems of the citrus industry worldwide. The major diseases affecting citrus are the "green mold" and "blue mold", caused by Penicillium digitatum and P. italicum, respectively. To control them, synthetic fungicides are the most commonly used method. However, often the emergence of resistant strains occurs and their use ...
